Adam and Amber

Once upon a time there were two children born in two different homes within a kingdom of magic.  Since the beginning of the royalty in this kingdom the only magical people were the king and queen’s children.  That was about to change because of two separate households. . .
In the one household a daughter was born within a pool of water and the things that the baby touched once she came out of her mother’s womb became water.  The pool she fell into was the first thing.  She was named Amber from her parents because of her eyes, but two days later she had a temper tantrum flooding the entire home killing everyone she had relation to.  Her bad luck was short lived when the king and queen took her in since they only had a son.  The queen wanted a daughter and now she had Amber.  The other household had a son who burned his way out and whatever he touched at first turned into fire.  The first thing he touched was his mother.  The father named him Adam because it was his father’s name, but two years later after getting a daily beating from his father he burned his home down killing everyone he loved.  The king and queen took him, but he was kept in a lively prison for life.  They may have already had a son and didn’t want to replace him even though he was the most annoying child in the world, but the only person keeping Adam alive was the queen.
Sixteen years later Adam still lives sadly in the prison and his powers are dead.  Since the beginning of time all magical beings have been told that your power comes from your emotions and even though Adam may not have been taught this his sadness was what had distinguished his powers.  He killed his mother when he was born and since he was two his father beat him for it and when he was two he killed his entire family getting himself stuck in this cell.  This was his home now, but after knowing all that, it still wasn’t the root of his sadness.
Amber is to be married to the prince Jack and at this time she is roaming the castle.  All her life she was happy because they gave her everything even though she lost her family eighteen years ago.  Losing her family should make her feel sad, but it gave her all this.  She was told she would marry the prince once she became of age.  Except she did not love him.  Jack was rude and cruel.  He treated her like a worthless being behind his parents’ backs, but he was faintly sweet and kind in front of them.  Amber didn’t want to marry him.
“What am I going to do?” she asked herself in the prison hallway.  “I can’t hurt their feelings after taking me in . . .  They would hate me, but I hate Jack.  I can’t hurt them.”  She began to cry and sat beside one of the cells.
The inhabitant of the cell came out of the shadows when he heard her crying and looked at her beautiful sad form.  He wanted to help her, but how could he when he was trapped in this cell.  She was an orphan just like him, but she was taken in because they wanted a daughter whereas he was put here since they already had a son.  A son that beat him and abused him every night until he cried.  The root of his sadness and misery was Jack.  Jack loved hurting him and raping him.  He told Adam every night that his parents don’t know his true nature and he doesn’t want to marry the bitch.  After seeing her through the bars for the first time Adam couldn’t believe his ugly words.  She was so beautiful in his eyes.
“So beautiful,” he said out loud and he put his hand over his mouth.
“Who’s in there?” Amber said looking into the cell.  Adam didn’t say anything, but he loved her watery voice and he wanted to hear it again yet he hoped that she couldn’t see him.  Except she could see him and she froze.  Their eyes met and he slowly lowered his hand.  They just sat there looking into each other’s eyes.  He was the first to look away and frowned remembering the root of his sadness again which burned even worse in his heart.
“You have to go marry the prince,” Adam whispered and crawled back into the shadows.
“I don’t want to.  Please come back into the light.  I want to see you again,” Amber said squinting her eyes trying to see him.
“I shouldn’t,” he whispered curling into a ball.
“You’re Adam aren’t you?  The queen told me about you.  Who did all those injuries to you?” Amber asked concerned.
“Jack,” Adam said barely audible.
“Why?” Amber asked him, but he didn’t answer.  “Does he . . . rape you?”
“Yes,” Adam choked out and began to cry.
“I knew it!  He is gay!  He never appreciated his mother and he hates me, but I . . .” said Amber and she began to cry again.
“You have to marry him,” sobbed Adam and they cried together.
“I love you though,” Adam whispered to himself and he looked at her in the shadows with a smile on his face, but his smile faded he saw a shadow coming over her.
“What are you doing in here?” Jack asked pulling her up forcefully by the arm.
“I was talking to Adam and I –
“I know.  I have heard every single word that came between the both of you.  I’m gay and now you know my little secret.  Except nobody else is going to find out, so I guess I have no choice,” Jack said and grabbed Amber by the neck.
“Once I get rid of you I can frame the queen’s perfect little angel that she could never have and I will be free of both of you,” Jack said and Adam ran to the bars.
“Let her go!  You’re going to kill her!” screamed Adam trying to reach through the bars with one hand to grab him.  To stop him.
“That’s the idea.  Now shut up.  I need to concentrate,” Jack said as her hands tried to free her neck and she kept gasping for breath from whatever passageway was left in her airway.
“Please let her go!  I’ll do anything if you let her go!” cried Adam as Jack laughed at him shaking his head and she pulled less while her airway was crushed to almost nothing.  “She’s dying!  Please you’re killing her!  I can’t let you do this!  I said LET HER GO!”
Suddenly the bars were fire and Adam grabbed Jack on the arm causing him to drop Amber who fell limp to the ground silently.
“Ouch!  Don’t burn me!” squealed Jack and he started on fire.
“You will leave her alone,” Adam spoke while Jack ran out of the room and Adam bent down to Amber.  She was motionless on the floor.  Her eyes were a glassy stare and the imprints of his hands were still around her broken neck.
“Amber, please don’t be dead,” Adam said as the fire died out and he put her in his arms while her head rolled into her elbow.  “I thought I could save you.  I – My fire has always caused death.”  Eventually the tears came and he cried over her body.  That was when he noticed a glass of water in his cell and he knew she was mainly a water being, so he ran to it after setting her body down gently and tried to pour it down her damaged throat.  Slowly she got more color to her face and she gasped for breath as her hands went to her neck.  She looked around her for her enemy, but all she could see was Adam.  The only thing that was seen on her face was her gratitude that he saved her.  Suddenly she wrapped her arms around Adam and kissed him.  He kissed her back and began to make her boil full of life and happiness.
“We have to get out of here,” she said pulling away, but they were still in an embrace.
“Don’t you have someone to marry?”  Adam said and she gave him a dirty look.
“My fiancé tried to kill me and you saved me, but you still want to tell me that I have someone to marry?  No.  Not when I have you,” she said and she stood up outstretching her hand.  He took it and they ran.  Any wall in their path was turned into either fire or water.  They were free together.
Once they left the kingdom they visited hot spots and lagoons.  They swam in beaches and climbed volcanoes.  They saw shining waterfalls and shooting geysers.  For one year they visited water and fire filled areas as their love for each other grew stronger.  Amber loved this, but she missed the queen.
“I want to go back,” Amber said one day while they were lying at a beach together.
“To the kingdom?  But we are free and if we go back they won’t allow us to be together,” Adam said brushing his fingers on her cheek.
“The queen will understand.  I miss her,” Amber said looking him in the eyes and Adam didn’t want to upset her as she rolled into his arms.
“We will go together,” he said and they held each other tightly.
The next day they went back to the kingdom, but it was not the same.  People were dying of thirst and the land had become a desert.  There was no water on either sides of the kingdom.  On the side where Adam was born everyone was miserable and they were all bed ridden except for the young kids with suppressed fire powers.
“Amber.  I need to stay here and help these kids.  Besides I can’t step foot in that castle because the king will kill me.  I’ll be here.  You go,” Adam said and she kissed him.
“I love you Adam,” Amber said and she ran to the castle leaving Adam to take care of his village.
She stopped outside the castle where she saw a statue of Prince Jack rather than a statue of both the king and queen embracing each other, but it had an inscription on it:
-Here lie the bones of King Percy and Queen Jill who died after a long happy life.  Now lives the King Jack who will let life boil.-
“No,” Amber whispered and ran into the castle.  She saw Jack on his throne dry to the bone with his eyes dried shut and it was like he was dead as he sat there motionless.
“Jack.  You need to free the water,” Amber said and Jack didn’t move except his mouth did.
“You’re back from the dead,” Jack said as his voice cracked.  “No.  If a man comes back here I will free the water.”
“Jack.  Adam doesn’t love you.  He loves me.  Let the water flow and don’t punish everyone else,” Amber said stopping right in front of the throne with her bare feet almost touching his cracked ones and she grabbed some sand surrounding the throne.  She turned it into water and all the other sand lying around turned into water.
“Don’t,” Jack said grabbing her arm.
“You can’t do this,” Amber said and turned all the sand in the throne room into water.
“Amber.  You always had to have your way with things.  Well I guess I will let the water flow,” he said smiling and the inside of the castle began to flood.
“What’s happening?” Amber said looking around frantically.
“I’m giving you what you wanted and hopefully it will finish what I meant to do a year ago,” he said and the water lifted her off her feet once it got passed her knees.
“Goodbye my sister,” Jack said as the water parted for him to leave and he left the room to flood behind him.  She couldn’t touch anything otherwise it would add to it.  Her fear kept adding to it even though she tried swimming to windows and doors, but they were all locked.
“I’m so sorry Jill and Percy,” she said and kept swimming to keep her head above water, but she was getting tired.  “I can’t stop him.  Adam I need you.”  She cried and swam till she was so tired.  Her arms ached and her legs were tired of moving.  She floated to the ceiling and once the water consumed the area she let herself float under the water.  Her exhaustion consumed her as she started filling with water rather than oxygen.
“Adam help me,” she breathed in full of water and she began to sink to the bottom of the castle.  The water filled her body and she floated within the water with no current.
Outside the castle where Adam was, he was helping the people and he froze.  It took a lot to freeze fire, but when his heart was burning full of pain it wasn’t fire he felt.  His heart felt freezer burn rather than water distinguishing it every time he saw her.
“Amber!” he said looking up at the castle and dropping a pile of sticks he ran to the castle.  The minute he passed the ridiculous looking new statue, he was blocked by Jack.
“Get out of my way,” Adam said with fire in his eyes, but Jack didn’t move.
“You’re too late,” Jack said with his hands on his hips.
“What did you do?” Adam growled spitting fire on the ground in front of him.
“It’s just you and me now lover boy,” Jack said and he made kissing noises at Adam.
“Don’t call me that.  I don’t love you,” Adam said and he turned the ground into after his spit ball went out.  Jack washed it away and he threw water at Adam.  Adam fell to the ground drenched to the bone since he was caught off guard.
“I will have you whether you like it or not,” Jack said and ripped his pants off.  He put himself into Adam and it was not pleasant.  It brought horrible memories into Adam’s head while Jack savagely forced himself into Adam and he was still in shock.
“I love you man,” Jack said with passion and caring, but love shouldn’t hurt while he felt him push hard enough making Adam bleed.
“NO!” screamed Adam and Jack punched him, but it was enough contact for Adam to turn Jack into fire.  “Goodbye.”  Once he pulled his pants up and watched him burn to death, he ran up the stairs.
Once he made it to the castle doors he found they were locked.  He put his ears to the door and all he could hear was a slight rushing of water.  There was no screaming.  He couldn’t hear any sign of life.  Once he turned the castle doors into fire, the water behind the door rushed at him.  Adam luckily ran to the side while he watched the water come out of the door.  All he saw was water.  He half expected her body to flow with it and roll down the steps past the ugly statue, but once it stopped he hesitated through the doorway.  That’s when he saw her.
“Amber!” he cried and ran to her motionless drenched body.  “No.  Not again.”  He put his ear to her chest and it was soundless.  Adam started making her heart pump again, but it didn’t seem to work.  He just forced her heart to pump and forced her chest to rise and fall when he gave her a breath.  Adam began to cry as he did it and finally stopped after thirty breaths.
“I can’t rule this kingdom alone.  I love you too much Amber,” Adam said and suddenly her cold and wet body wrapped around Adam like a leech.  She was savagely kissing him and he was slowly getting wetter and wetter.
“Amber!” choked Adam, but she continued to drown him as they were embraced together and he was getting full of water.
“Please,” he choked, but she continued to hold him tighter and drown him.  Eventually he went motionless underneath her and she woke from her dead sleep.  She looked at him as his head fell to the floor.
“Adam?  What have I done?” she squealed jumping away from him and curling into a ball.  “I killed him!”  The tears flowed down her face while she rocked back and forth.  That’s when an idea came to her that made her heart burn with pain rather than boil whenever he kissed her.
“Jack drowned me right?” asking herself looking at Adam whose motionless body couldn’t give her the answer that she already knew.  “Then I could burn you Adam and you would live like me!”  Amber carried him out of the castle and down the stairs passing the revolting statue to the cured villagers all on her own.  The villagers quickly came to face her once she laid Adam at her feet especially the six kids that she sensed were fire beings like Adam.
“I need a fire built,” she said and the six of them made one without protest.  Once it was big enough she threw him in and watched him burn.  His clothes became ashes, but his body still kept its form.
“I think it is about time you kids go home and take care of your families.  The water will flow and the fire will continue to burn as long as we rule,” Amber said and they all nodded smiling as Adam continued to burn.  Once all the children’s doors shut behind them Adam’s body stood up and walked to her all aflame.  She touched his arm when he came out of the fire and he became himself again.
“It’s good to see you again,” she said and he pulled her closer to his naked body making her heart and blood boil all over again knowing he was alive.
“Yes.  It’s good to see you too,” he said and they held each other as they slowly walked to the castle.

The End
